WordPress 6.9 · MCP · human publish
WP Adapter exposes a small, safe set of abilities to MCP clients so Claude, Cursor, or Claude Code can draft and edit content. Publish stays off until you turn it on.
How it works
Activate WP Adapter on WordPress 6.9+. It registers a short list of abilities and a dedicated MCP server.
The Connect screen copies JSON for Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Claude Code. Use an application password, not an admin login.
Ask for a draft, a rewrite, a block swap. Then you open wp-admin and publish — or you never enable publish at all.
Safety is the product
Lite cannot publish. Pro can, but only after you flip “Allow publish”. Future and private are the same gate.
Every mutating ability writes who, which tool, which object. Content bodies are truncated. Application passwords are never stored.
Pro snapshots the post before a write. Restore title, content, excerpt, status, slug, taxonomies, and the featured image.
Who it’s for
What it is not
MCP Adapter is the official transport from the WordPress project. WP Adapter is a product on top: curated tools, draft-only defaults, audit log, and rollback.
No WooCommerce builders, no SQL, no theme-file edit, no “install this plugin for me”.
