How it works

Install. Paste. Talk to the site.

1 — Install the plugin

Activate WP Adapter on WordPress 6.9+. It registers a short list of abilities and a dedicated MCP server.

2 — Paste the MCP config

The Connect screen copies JSON for Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Claude Code. Use an application password, not an admin login.

3 — Talk to the site

Ask for a draft, a rewrite, a block swap. Then you open wp-admin and publish — or you never enable publish at all.

Safety is the product

Draft-only by default. Audit on every write. Rollback if it goes wrong.

Draft-only

Lite cannot publish. Pro can, but only after you flip “Allow publish”. Future and private are the same gate.

Audit log

Every mutating ability writes who, which tool, which object. Content bodies are truncated. Application passwords are never stored.

Rollback

Pro snapshots the post before a write. Restore title, content, excerpt, status, slug, taxonomies, and the featured image.

No. MCP Adapter is the official transport from the WordPress project. WP Adapter is a product on top: curated tools, draft-only defaults, audit log, and rollback.

Which WordPress version?

WordPress 6.9 or newer, PHP 8.1+, HTTPS in production. The Abilities API ships in core. The plugin bundles a compatible copy of MCP Adapter via Composer.

What can the agent actually do?

Lite: read the site and write drafts. Pro: publish if you allow it, trash (not force-delete), upload media, edit individual Gutenberg blocks, and roll back. The full list lives in docs.
